Today I have to write two songs.

Earlier this year, I signed up for, and completed, the 2009 February Album Writing Month challenge--14 songs in 28 days. It was fun, sometimes difficult, sometimes very frustrating (like the week I wanted to record and couldn't because of laryngitis) and an all-around good experience. It was also the songwriting equivalent of a sprint: lots of effort, quick payoff.

The challenge that's going on now, on the other hand, is the 50 Songs in 90 Days challenge, more like a marathon. And I'm blocked. I haven't the faintest clue what kind of songs to start writing, and I only have a couple of ideas which are not fleshing out well.

The crazy thing is that the challenge started on July 4th. I have to write a little over a song every two days for the next two months, and I'm already behind.
